Char Dham yatra is one of the most important rituals in Hinduism. Dham means the sacred place every person in their lifetime wants to visit at least once at this sacred place. The Chhota char Dham yatra in Uttarakhand comprises many sacred places with religious importance.
Uttarakhand alone has many sacred places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Devprayag and many more, But out of these Char Dham yatra of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri is of top-most importance.
Badrinath
Badrinath is a sacred place in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand at an elevation of 10000 feet, this place is a part of Char Dham of India which compromises Badrinath, Jagrnath puri, Dwarka, and Rameshwaram. This Badrinath temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, there is a belief that Lord Vishnu meditated for thousand years at this place for the liberation of this earth.Kedarnath
Kedarnath, the place of Lord Shiva. In India, Kedarnath is one of the most prominent pilgrimage sites since ancient times. It is one of the 12 jyotirlingas of lord shiva, this destination attracts a lot of people every year due to its spiritual importance as well as its attractive establishment in the lap of Nature, surrounded by the snow-covered Himalayas attracting thousands of travellers to this site.This place is approx. 220 km away from Rishikesh, At an elevation of 11000 feet near the source of the Mandakini river, surrounded by Kedarnath mountain. The lush green vegetation and 22000 feet high Kedarnath peak make it more attractive for trekking and camping.
Haridwar
Haridwar, the holy land, is the city visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. From Haridwar onward The Holy Ganga starts its journey to the plains, many sacred ghats and temples made this city a spiritual capital for tourists, from the whole world. Every few years, this city organises Maha Kumb which attracts lakhs of devotees from all over the country.Gangotri
Gangotri, this place is located at an elevation of 11000 feet. This place is the origin point of the Holy Bhagirathi or Ganga river. At this place there is a temple of Goddess Ganga, it is a belief that Ganga came down to earth from Swarg at this place.Yamunotri
Yamunotri hamlet in Uttarkashi, district of Uttarakhand, is the origin of the Holy Yamuna river; this place is situated at an elevation of 10500 feet. This place is 227 km away from the Gangotri, the place of origin of the Holy Ganga. The shrine at this destination is dedicated to the goddess the Yamuna.itinerary
Day 0 : DELHI TO CHOTA CHAR DHAM
- We will begin our journey in the evening
Day 1 : Arrival Delhi – Haridwar
- Our journey to Chota char Dham will start from Delhi and our first stoppage will be in Haridwar, For the onward journey, we will have to get our biometrics done
- After reaching Haridwar, get your key to the room and get refreshed yourself. In the evening visit local sightseeing in Haridwar and prepare yourself for a further Journey
- Looks like you are tired now, so now it’s time to have a delicious dinner and Night halt at a hotel in Haridwar
Day 2 : Drive from Haridwar to Barkot
- Wake up in the morning to continue our expedition further, Now we will move to Barkot/ Jankichatti. In Uttarkashi district, Barkot is a hill station on the bank of the Yamuna river. On our way to Barkot, we will visit Kempty Falls in Mussoorie
- Upon arrival at the Barkot go to your hotel or camps. Now onward the whole day you can relax and prepare yourself for the next day’s journey for Yamunotri
- Looks like you have rested a lot, Now it’s time for dinner
Day 3 : Barkot– Yamunotri – Barkot
- Today we will visit Yamunotri Dham. After that, we will have to visit Hanuman Chatti and Janki Chatti. Now from here, we will start our fast mountain talk to Yamunotri. You can also hire mules and palikis here if you are unable to walk
- Now we will travel through the splendid green valleys of the Himalayas
- On reaching Yamunotri take a deep into Holy Yamunotri and worship here
- Now we have to go back from the journey now so that we can start our tomorrow's journey well
- Now it seems that you are very tired after today's journey. Now you should take a rest after dinner
Day 4 : Drive Barkot – Uttarkashi
- Now drop the Barkot, after breakfast, we will leave for Uttarkashi, Uttarkashi is situated on the bank of the Bhagirathi river where there are many historical sites and temples, and ashrams
- At night have a delicious dinner and a night halt at Uttarkashi
Day 5 : Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi
- After breakfast in the morning, we will leave the hotel for Gangotri Dham. Here we will see a lofty Himalayan mountain
- Here we will take bath in a Bhagirathi river after that we will worship Maa Ganga
- That was enough for today now we will go back to our Accommodation and have a dinner and night's stay in the hotel
Day 6 : Uttarkashi – Guptkashi
- Now our next stop is GuptKashi. After having a delicious breakfast we will leave early in the morning for guptkashi
- After reaching guptkashi go to your respective rooms, the ancient Kedarnath is at a distance of about 50 km from here
- Now we have to get a medical checkup done for our next day's trip to Kedarnath in the night, have a delicious dinner and a night halt at the hotel
Day 7 : Guptkashi – Sonprayag – Kedarnath
- Early morning after having breakfast in the lap of Himalaya we will leave our rooms and start our journey from sonprayag to Kedarnath
- You can book mules and horses from here at your own cost
- Enjoy the beautiful view in the beautiful hills of the Kedarnath while chanting Jai Bholenath. After reaching Kedarnath you can rest in the government tent
Day 8 : Kedarnath – Sonprayag – Guptkashi/Rudraprayag
- Get up before sunrise at 4:30 in the morning, and get ready for the darshan of Bholenath. What your wishes are asked for from the Bholenath he will definitely bless you with that thing
- No, we will start our tour from Kedarnath to Sonprayag and will stay the night in the hotel
Day 9 : Rudraprayag / Guptkashi – Joshimath – Badrinath
- In the morning have breakfast, after that, we will move forward to Badrinath via Joshimath this is an important Hindu pilgrimage site in the Uttrakhand
- We will reach Badrinath through the remote Himalayan valleys, Up reaching hair go to your respective room and get yourself refreshed. In the evening we will go to Badrinath Temple for Darshan before then taking a bath in the tapt kund hot spring
- Today was a very tiring day, now we will go for dinner and after that a night halt
Day 10 : Badrinath – Joshimath – Rudraprayag
- In the morning we will visit Badrinath Temple Darshan after that we will see many other local sights. After that, we will visit Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Mata Murti Temple
- In the afternoon leave out your room, now we will go toward Karan Prayag Rudraprayag why is Joshimath which is a very important religious pilgrimage place for Hindus
Day 11 : Rudraprayag – Rishikesh
- Now we will wake up in the morning to have breakfast and continue our journey downward. We will come to Rishikesh which is a very famous place for pilgrimage. At this place, we will see the confluence of the river Ganga and Chandra Bhaga which is a very beautiful sight
- You can go to your room from there you are completely free to go to Ram Jhula Laxman Jhula and whatever places you want
- Ganga aarti in the evening is meant to purify your body and mind
- Later, come back to your room and enjoy your meal
Day 12 : Departure Delhi
- This is the last day of your 12th day Chota char Dham yatra. After breakfast in the morning, you can leave for your home destination Delhi with lots of memories
